Overview

There’s a Revolution coming…..

Are you ready to seize the opportunities it presents? Or are you going to miss the boat, bus, lorry, car, train, plane, bike, drone……?

Through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) the government has identified 4 grand challenges

  • Future Mobility
  • Clean Growth
  • Data
  • Ageing Society

Connected Autonomous Transport (CAT) covers all of these 4 grand challenges. Innovate UK estimate that by 2025 the global value of this new mobility will be £900 billion. Through the ISCF, the government has identified that we need to develop and demonstrate safe, efficient, integrated and interoperable connected and autonomous transports systems for movement of people and goods from the UK and abroad by 2023. There is nowhere in the UK where this is more important or urgent than here in Northern Ireland. To achieve this Government has set a target to increase GVA by £4bn in the UK by 2025. To enable this they are likely to support the development and deployment of these interconnected technologies and solutions through the ISCF.

Although this is a very speculative approach, we need to be asking the questions now:

  • What’s the vision for Northern Ireland?
  • What are our challenges?
  • What are the opportunities?
  • How do we achieve our vision?
  • Do we need a demonstration site?
  • Research – what’s needed, how is it funded?
  • Innovation – what do we need, how is it funded?
  • How is it delivered and how are solutions brought to market quickly?
  • Network – Collaboration, partnering what’s needed?

This workshop aims to facilitate and assist businesses in Northern Ireland have those conversations. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss potential solutions to these questions and identify partners that they might be able to work with to deliver this complete, interconnected and secure system for our transportation, trade, energy and society.
