Overview
Smart fabrics, technical textiles and digital technology is a rapidly developing and expanding technological landscape. We aim to help our companies understand what might be possible by bringing together local and international thought leaders.
What you will learn
Nigel McAlpine, from the new Immersive Lab of the Digital Catapult in Belfast, will explain the technology available, the ways that you can utilise and integrate this technology and how you can get involved with the lab and the Catapult.
B-Secur from Belfast has developed an innovative biometric authentication technology based on each individual’s unique ECG pattern of their heart. Simon Rea, B-Secur’s Chief Operations Officer will explain their technology, what they can do and how it might be applied to or embedded in textiles and garments.
You will also hear from Professor Parikshit Goswami, University of Huddersfield, who will explain some of his recent exciting research projects and what he currently sees as the challenges and opportunities facing the UK. Prof. Goswami is a member of the Society of Dyers and Colourists and has experience in plasma treatments and waterproof coatings, anti-bacterial coatings for medical applications and textile based drug delivery systems.
